Adding a piece

Add a Piece

Every piece you have for sale is added once, with what you can see and weigh. The tag number, SKU and barcode are created for you.

1. 1 Open Add a Piece. Give it a name and choose the category, metal and purity.
2. 2 Type the gross weight. Add stones with their carat weight, and the stone weight is taken off to give the net metal weight.
3. 3 Choose how it is priced: by today's rate, at a fixed price, or at cost plus a markup.
4. 4 For rate pricing, enter the making charge (per gram, fixed, or a percent of the metal) and any wastage percent.
5. 5 Enter the costs if you track profit, choose where the piece is kept, add photos, and press Save — or Save & print tag.

The box on the right shows the price at today's rate while you type, so you can see what the customer will be charged before you save.

Diamonds and gemstones

For each stone, enter its type, shape, number of stones, carat, and — for diamonds — colour, clarity and cut, with the certificate lab and number. Price it per carat, per stone, or as a fixed value.

Stone details are printed on the invoice, so the customer sees exactly what they bought.

Printing tags

Print Tags

Each tag carries a barcode of the piece's tag number, the purity and the weights. Choose a tag size, how many copies, and whether to print today's price on it.

Scanning that barcode at the sale screen brings the piece straight up.

Where a piece is, and its status

Pieces in Stock → open a piece

A piece is available, reserved for a customer, out on approval, in repair, in transit between branches, sold, or returned. Only available, reserved and on-approval pieces can be sold.

Change a piece's status or location from its own page. Every move is written to the piece's history with who did it and when.
