The calculation
For a piece priced by rate, the price is the net metal weight × today's rate for its purity, plus wastage, plus making charges, plus stones, plus any design charges. Then the price list, discount and tax are applied.
The same calculation is used everywhere — the sale screen, quotations, the price calculator and the price on a tag — so a customer is never quoted one price and charged another.
Example
- Gold 22K: 10 g × 20,000 = 200,000
- Making charges (fixed): 10,000
- Stones: 5,000
- Total: 215,000
Making charges and wastage
Making can be charged per gram of net weight, as a fixed amount, or as a percent of the metal value. Wastage is a percent of the metal value, shown as its own line.
Price lists
Business Setup → Price Lists
A price list adjusts the rate, making, wastage or stones for a group of customers — wholesale buyers, VIP customers, or one branch. Give a customer a price list and it is used whenever they buy.
The price calculator
Price Calculator
To answer "how much would 12 grams of 22K with this making cost?" without adding a piece, use the Price Calculator. It shows the full breakdown at today's rate.
