Receive loose stones

Record natural or laboratory-grown, shape, carats, the 4Cs, polish, symmetry, fluorescence, measurements, the lab and report number with its verification link, any treatment and how it is disclosed, and origin. Attach the certificate.
More than one stone is kept as a parcel. Setting some of it into pieces takes those stones and carats off the parcel; its history always adds up to what is left.
Carat (ct) is the weight of a stone — 0.2 g each. Karat (K) is the purity of gold. A 0.50 ct diamond in a ring adds 0.1 g to the stone weight and is never counted as gold.
Set, replace or lose a stone
On the piece form use From loose stock, or Set into a piece on the stone's page. Its grading and certificate go with it.
On the piece page, Replace / lost takes a stone out — replaced, lost or removed — and it stays in the piece's history. The piece's stone weight and price follow.
